The route is planned out very meticulously, so you get the most out of your ride. A support van is present throughout the journey, its driver a highly trained mechanic who can tend to any technical issues that may arise. And if a participant falls behind or feels like he or she has had too much, our team will make sure the tour continues smoothly and the cyclist is picked up. If you want to join the fun but don’t have your bike with you, we can supply you a high-performance rental adjusted to your specifications.
First on the menu is an introductory tour dubbed the ‘Local Specialty’. We start off in Ljubljana, quickly moving out of the city and on to the most beautiful roads for cycling in the surrounding area. Entering Ljubljana’s countryside feels like venturing into a completely different world in a matter of minutes. This tour is easy, intended for warming up and getting to know each other. We will ride along the southern part of the Polhov Gradec Dolomites, part of the pre-Alpine hilly region of north-western Slovenia, the route of the famous Franja Marathon. The night is spent in Ljubljana and the evening is free for exploring the city centre.
A transit tour awaits. This one is slightly more challenging. From Ljubljana we cycle through Škofja Loka, a picturesque historic old town, and continue through the scenic Selška Valley before crossing the Soriška Planina pass towards Bohinj. The city-to-Alps transformation is unbelievable. Arriving in Bohinj, we rest our limbs and relax in preparation for the next day.
The next day we start from Bohinj uphill to the Meseta de Pokljuka. Crossing this idyllic place with its peaceful meadow and dense woodland, we descend into the Valle de Radovna, from where we continue to Mojstrana and the sports hub of Kranjska Gora. It’s our first overnight stay in this Alpine paradise.
From Kranjska Gora, we cross the mountainous border to one of the nicest road circles in the area. We will cycle along the abandoned railway line winding its way above the Valle del Kanal, through the village of Dogna and back through the famous Sella Nevea pass. A long but not overly tiring circle amidst beautiful settings is completed.
After another night in Kranjska Gora, it is time to ride over the Vršič Pass the southern side of the Julian Alps. Along the Soča Río, we will rush down a pleasant road with moderate descents. With every mile, you will feel the climate turn increasingly Mediterranean. Eventually we arrive in the winegrowing region of Goriška Brda, appropriately called Toscana eslovena. A well-deserved rest will certainly be in order.
This last leg of our tour will be somewhat easier as we hit the roads among the vineyards. The afternoon is reserved for wine tasting and pure relaxation.
