Julian Alps

Slovenia's most famous mountain range with the only national park and the highest peak in the country.

Covering an estimated area of 4,400 km2, the Julian Alps are Slovenia’s most famous mountain range, consisting of the Southern Limestone Alps that stretch from north-eastern Italy to Slovenia. Their highest peak is Slovenia’s emblem, Mt. Triglav (2,864 m). A large part of the Julian Alps is included in Triglav National Park. Besides their spectacular natural beauty, the Julian Alps include must-visit places, such as Lakes Bled and Bohinj, Kranjska Gora, Kobarid, Bovec, the Soča Valley, Pokljuka Plateau, Vršič Pass, Triglav Lakes Valley and numerous mighty peaks (Krn, Špik, Mangart, Jalovec, Škrlatica, Tosc, Prisojnik, Kanin, etc.). There’s a long list of outdoor activities, cultural and historic landmarks, as well as numerous authentic Alpine destinations within this awe-inspiring highland region.
