Description

If you always imagined yourself spending some time in a scenic alpine town, almost singing the notes from the Sound of Music, Kranjska Gora is the place for you. But don’t worry, singing is optional. We will rather keep you busy with plenty of outdoor activities, so you can take in the scenery on your active holiday break.

You will get to spend time in some of the most scenic valleys in Slovenia, from the most famous Soča Valley to those considered off the beaten path. Hiking and cycling will be a part of your every day and optionally you can add activities, such as white water rafting or ziplining in Bovec, the adrenaline capital of Slovenia.

Hike to spectacular waterfalls and around the Soča River, cycle to natural river springs and relax around Lake Jasna, just a short walk from Kranjska Gora. Drive across one of the most epic mountain passes, Vršič, and take in the jaw-dropping views of the Slovenian northwest.

There is a beautiful forest trail that runs through the valley, following Triglavska Bistrica River upstream. A wonderful hiking destination, the first of the two waterfalls is easily accessible by everyone. Treat yourselves to a traditional meal or snack at a local mountain hut, located on a beautiful meadow, surrounded by pastures and forest. For those with more hiking experience, we recommend continuing to the second waterfall, that is nested in the sheer cliff of the mountains and thus the ascent becomes more technically demanding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the pickup and which transfers are included?

The included pickup and drop-off at the end of the holiday in the price published on our website is in Kranjska Gora. For any changes, please notify us upon booking. The included transfers are all the transfers between places and/or activities specified in the itinerary.

Where do I eat when the food is not included?

Both our back office team and our guides know where to go. We can give you recommendations or even pre-book some places for you. You can be adventurous and find places on your own. Either way, let us know if you would like any sort of help.

How fit do I need to be?

Our activities included in the tour are appropriate both for absolute first-timers to people with experience. For most of the activities included in the itinerary, you need to be moderately fit, meaning that you are able to hike up a slope for about 30 minutes and know how to swim for the water activities. In case you are unsure about any of the activities, feel free to ask us anything and we will help you out.

What should I wear? Do I have to bring anything with me?

It is important to dress for the season. Slovenia has all 4 seasons, so please check the weather forecast before the day trip regarding temperatures and rainfall. When you are close to the Alps, the weather can change fairly quickly, so your best bet is to always bring an extra layer. We recommend shoes you will be comfortable in.

I have food restrictions. Are there restaurants for me?

It really depends on the level of your restriction. Vegetarian options are fairly easy to find in Slovenia, but vegan dishes, on the other hand, are extremely hard to come by in rural areas of the country and in smaller towns. Please note that the places where we stop for lunch are often traditional and may have difficulties accommodating you outside of their standard menu. We suggest you keep this in mind.

Will I have some time to myself?

Yes! Our holidays are designed to give you some free time every day to relax and spend it the way you want to. It is your holiday after all! For any advice and suggestions you can always turn to your tour leader or our back office, who will be more than happy to help you out.

What is the tourist tax that is not included in the price?

A tourist and promotion tax is a fee that every visitor has to pay for each overnight stay all over Slovenia. It consists of two parts: each municipality charges a tourist tax fee, which goes towards financing and maintenance of tourist facilities in the area, and the Slovenian Tourist Board charges a promotion tax, which is used to promote Slovenia. Depending on the municipality, the tax rates vary - from 1.5€ in some locations to 3.13€ in Ljubljana or Bled (per person, per night).
