If you always imagined yourself spending some time in a scenic alpine town, almost singing the notes from the Sound of Music, Kranjska Gora is the place for you. But don’t worry, singing is optional. We will rather keep you busy with plenty of outdoor activities, so you can take in the scenery on your active holiday break.
You will get to spend time in some of the most scenic valleys in Slovenia, from the most famous Soča Valley to those considered off the beaten path. Hiking and cycling will be a part of your every day and optionally you can add activities, such as white water rafting or ziplining in Bovec, the adrenaline capital of Slovenia.
Hike to spectacular waterfalls and around the Soča River, cycle to natural river springs and relax around Lake Jasna, just a short walk from Kranjska Gora. Drive across one of the most epic mountain passes, Vršič, and take in the jaw-dropping views of the Slovenian northwest.
With a perfect balance between free time to relax and fun activities in nature, this holiday is bound to get you recharged and create memories for years to come!
Settle yourself in Kranjska Gora, one of the most famous alpine resorts in Slovenia. Set in the beautiful valley of the Upper Sava River, it is a perfect spot to explore the Julian Alps. With a great network of cycling trails in the area, it is easy to stay active! Hop on a bicycle and pedal your way to the Zelenci Springs, the very beginning of Sava River.
Not far from Kranjska Gora, lies one of the most spectacular valleys in this mountain range. One of the sites that makes Vrata Valley so popular is Peričnik Waterfall, a marvellous 360° nature show, as there is a walking trail that lets you go around it. There is a beautiful forest trail that runs through the valley, following Triglavska Bistrica River upstream. You will get to see Mount Triglav eye to eye, when reaching the head of Vrata Valley as you stand underneath the towering northern face of this highest peak in Slovenia.
On this day, we will loop around some of the most stunning parts of the Julian Alps, as we make our way across the Vršič Pass into the Soča River Valley. The river, sometimes called the emerald beauty, is a spectacular sight on its own, while the hiking and all the other optional activities, make it a true adventure paradise. Fairytale landscapes of epic proportions will make your heart jump with joy!
Please carry your passport as we will cross the Italian border.
Kranjska Gora offers a wide range of activities, so it is up to you how you would like to spend this day here. You can just relax and enjoy the pristine Lake Jasna and its magnificent mountain backdrop, especially in the summer, when it becomes a popular swimming spot. There are many trails around the town you can choose to go hiking on. The choice is yours!
Spend your day in the embrace of Martuljek Mountains and Mount Špik, as you hike to the almost hidden Martuljek Falls. A wonderful hiking destination, the first of the two waterfalls is easily accessible by everyone. Treat yourselves to a traditional meal or snack at a local mountain hut, located on a beautiful meadow, surrounded by pastures and forest. For those with more hiking experience, we recommend continuing to the second waterfall, that is nested in the sheer cliff of the mountains and thus the ascent becomes more technically demanding.
