Description

Experience the diverse landscape of Slovenia’s countryside and that special rush that comes with the freedom of the road by joining a guided road cycling tour. This amazing 3-day adventure allows you to test your stamina on the most demanding Slovenian mountain routes and take in the incredible natural surroundings in one amazing active holiday.

If you’re a cycling enthusiast, who wants to combine top runs with stunning views, this 3-day active holiday is right up your alley. It consists of the best routes the Slovenian mountains have to offer. You will get to experience this country’s immense diversity as you tackle the terrain in the Kranjska Gora area of the Julian Alps. Two amazing runs across varied, hilly terrain with unforgettable panorama and picturesque villages. To regain your lost calories, you will munch down on some delicious authentic local cuisine, including hearty breakfasts that will give you the boost you need.

You will cycle on less-travelled roads of the Alpine region. Less traffic, more freedom. Kranjska Gora, a small but lively Alpine town, is located near the Austrian and Italian borders and offers the best cycling routes of the region. The tour is led by a local guide who is a professional cyclist with years of experience and can double as a trainer. The route is planned out very meticulously, so you get the most out of your ride. A support van is present throughout our ride, its driver a highly trained mechanic who can tend to any technical issues that may arise. And if a participant falls behind or feels like he has had too much, our team will make sure the tour continues smoothly and the cyclist is picked up.

If you want to join the fun but don’t have your bike with you, we can supply you a high-performance rental adjusted to your specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the pickup and which transfers are included?

The included pickup and drop-off at the end of the holiday in the price published on our website is in Ljubljana or Ljubljana airport. For any changes, please notify us upon booking. The included transfers are all the transfers between places and/or activities specified in the itinerary.

Where do I eat when the food is not included?

Both our back office team and our guides know where to go. We can give you recommendations or even pre-book some places for you. You can be adventurous and find places on your own. Either way, let us know if you would like any sort of help.

How fit do I need to be?

Cycling planned on our cycling holidays is moderate to challenging - some of the stages are quite long, some ascents can be challenging. The pace is entirely up to you. If you want to cycle more there is always room for extending a day. If you feel a stage is too demanding, don’t worry - you can always shorten it and shuttle a part of it with our support van.

What should I wear? Do I have to bring anything with me?

It is important to dress for the season. Slovenia has all 4 seasons, so please check the weather forecast before the holiday regarding temperatures and rainfall. When you are close to the Alps, you can see all 4 seasons change in the same day, so your best bet is to always bring an extra layer and rain gear. Your guide will let you know each day what kind of weather you can expect for the next day and don’t worry - extra layers can always travel behind us in a support van.

I have food restrictions. Are there restaurants for me?

It really depends on the level of your restriction. Vegetarian options are fairly easy to find in Slovenia, but vegan dishes, on the other hand, are extremely hard to come by in rural areas of the country and in smaller towns. Please note that the places where we stop for lunch are often traditional and may have difficulties accommodating you outside of their standard menu. We suggest you keep this in mind.

Will I have some time to myself?

If you want to, sure! We are well aware that some people love to stay in groups while others prefer some more alone time on their trip. We wanted to give you the opportunity to do things your way. It is your holiday, after all! As long as you respect the group timings and locations designated by your guide, please feel free to customize your itinerary and create your own adventure!

What is the tourist tax that is not included in the price?

A tourist and promotion tax is a fee that every visitor has to pay for each overnight stay all over Slovenia. It consists of two parts: each municipality charges a tourist tax fee, which goes towards financing and maintenance of tourist facilities in the area, and the Slovenian Tourist Board charges a promotion tax, which is used to promote Slovenia. Depending on the municipality, the tax rates vary - from 1.5€ in some locations to 3.13€ in Ljubljana or Bled (per person, per night).
