Let the adventure begin! After we make our introductions we will take a guided bike tour to discover the city’s unique highlights and introduce you to the story behind the city. To get a real feel of the city, you can opt for a leisurely boat ride on the Ljubljanica River, or visit the mighty Ljubljana Castle with one of the best views of the entire city. Ljubljana is also known as a mecca for foodies, so we recommend trying some traditional cuisine in your free time.

You won't just stare at the mountains that adorn Ljubljana’s cityscape, instead, we will take you to the high pastures of Velika Planina, where you can really admire the views from the heart of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. A unique shepherd’s village located at the top of the plateau will uncover the authentic traditions of cheese making and cow herding in this incredible Alpine setting. You can reach the plateau by foot on a short scenic trail or opt for a cable car. After we take in the beautiful views, we will return back to Ljubljana, where you can enjoy some free time or go wine tasting authentic Slovenian wines.

After a hearty breakfast, we will drive to the Slovenian Coast. There we will begin the cycling tour that will take us through the beautiful Portorož and the narrow streets of Piran where we will explore the city’s medieval history. The route will follow the epic Adriatic scenery and even take us on an old abandoned railway track. We also offer E-bikes on request that make the tour suitable for everyone.

In the morning we will depart from the Coast and visit one of the most remarkable regions of Slovenia. We will dive deep into the astonishing Škocjan caves, listed on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites, where we will explore the biggest underground canyon in the world.When our eyes readjust to light, we will visit the wine-growing region of Vipava Valley, sometimes called the “Slovenian Tuscany”. A cycling tour will take us around this beautiful vineyard landscape and again, you can opt for an E-bike for an easier journey. After the ride, you can enjoy the stunning views at our accommodation or go to a wine tasting of the award-winning authentic wines at a local winery. IMPORTANT: The temperature in the cave is 10 °C, so make sure you have warm layers with you.

A scenic ride will take us to the mountain town Bovec, surrounded by the mighty peaks of the Julian Alps. In the pristine alpine valley, we will explore the beautiful Tolmin Gorge and hike a magical trail, alongside the Soča river to the scenic Kozjak Waterfall near Kobarid. At the end of the trail there is a small wooden viewing platform where you take some amazing pictures. Another trail that we will explore will take us to Virje Waterfall, a hidden gem and one of the rare karstic springs that never dry up. In the afternoon you can enjoy some free time in Bovec, relax and get ready for the next day.

After a good night’s sleep, we will hike deep into the pristine nature of Triglav National Park and look into the magic waters of the Šunik water grove. Our journey will continue up the spectacular road leading over the Vršič mountain Pass where we will take numerous photo stops to capture attractions like the stone face of the “Pagan Girl” and the wooden Russian Chapel. New adventures await in the alpine resort Bled from where we will cycle to the entrance of Vintgar Gorge, which we will further discover on foot. When we return back to Bled you can take a scenic ride in the traditional Pletna boat to the famous Bled island or even rent a SUP board if you have some energy left.

Unfortunately, every good thing must come to an end. But although our time together is almost over, there is still one last amazing adventure ahead of us. In the morning we will hike up a small hill overlooking Bled, called Ojstrica, for possibly the best view of Lake Bled, where you will be able to take some amazing pictures and take in the beauty of the amazing scenery. To make your last day as care-free as possible we can arrange a transfer to Ljubljana Airport from where you will leave Slovenia with memories that will last a lifetime.

The included pickup and drop-off at the end of the holiday in the price published on our website is in Ljubljana. For any changes, please notify us upon booking. The included transfers are all the transfers between places and/or activities specified in the itinerary.

Both our back office team and our guides know where to go. We can give you recommendations or even pre-book some places for you. You can be adventurous and find places on your own. Either way, let us know if you would like any sort of help.

It is important to dress for the season. Slovenia has all 4 seasons, so please check the weather forecast before the day trip regarding temperatures and rainfall. When you are close to the Alps, the weather can change fairly quickly, so your best bet is to always bring an extra layer. We recommend shoes you will be comfortable in.

It really depends on the level of your restriction. Vegetarian options are fairly easy to find in Slovenia, but vegan dishes, on the other hand, are extremely hard to come by in rural areas of the country and in smaller towns. Please note that the places where we stop for lunch are often traditional and may have difficulties accommodating you outside of their standard menu. We suggest you keep this in mind.

The tour plan was really wonderful, a good balance of urban and outdoor locations and experiences. The trip app worked perfectly, making it simple to keep organized with excursion vouchers, route maps, site descriptions, etc. it also made it easy to communicate with the travel company when we occasionally had questions. We were amazed at how much variety there was in a relatively small area. I highly recommend this company and this particular trip plan for anyone who would like to explore this area of Slovenia.

Slovenia Holidays / World Discovery ( travel agent Grega) arranged a one week travel program for us in Slovenia, combining our own wishes of some hiking and nature experiences, some sea-, city- and country-side visits and his own suggestions (Ljubljana food tour, Planina cave spelunking with personal guide, etc.). The process around customising the itinerary and perfecting it went very smooth. He arranged tickets, guides and a rental car, all accessible through a neat app, and the plan turned out to fit very well, including a rental car upgrade to accommodate larger then anticipated suitcases. We had not heard so much about Slovenia beforehand, but it is amazing, as are its people, food, culture and not least its diverse nature, its exceptional gorges and caves.
