DAY 1 - Best of Ljubljana
You will pick up your car in Ljubljana and start with your itinerary. Wandering around Ljubljana will keep you highly entertained. Does strolling up to Ljubljana Castle, going on a relaxing boat ride down the river lined with gorgeous architecture, popping into interesting museums, and joining wine tastings and a food tour sound like fun? It’s beyond fun! And it’s only the beginning of your holiday.

DAY 2 - Alpine Lakes of Bled & Bohinj
The following day, Slovenia’s most prized attraction, Lake Bled, is bound to take your breath away. There are tons of things to do and see in and around the historic town of Bled. Just around the corner is another natural marvel: Lake Bohinj. Perched in the heart of the Julian Alps, Lake Bohinj’s surroundings promise a truly captivating wilderness.
Heading up Mt. Vogel will give you a first-hand experience of why Slovenia is home to some of the most jaw-dropping countryside in the world. Then it’s back to Ljubljana to recharge your batteries.

DAY 3 - The Karst
Heading towards the Slovenian coast and its delightful climate, you will enter the Karst. The countryside is completely different from anything you will have seen thus far. This area is among Slovenia’s most interesting landscapes. It’s where the topographical phenomenon karst originates from. Its generous and spectacular networks of underground caves include the marvels of Postojna Cave and Škocjan Caves, which you simply have to visit.
Then there’s the Predjama Castle, a medieval Guinness Book of Records holder, and the Lipica Stud Farm, the birthplace of the famous Lipizzaner horses. After a thorough tour of the Karst, it’s you’ll be spending the night on the “Slovene Riviera”, the colorful town of Portorož.

The temperature in the cave is 10C, so make sure you have warm layers with you.
Dotted with highly impressive towns of Piran, Koper, and Izola, the Slovenian coastline is a lovely introduction to the Adriatic Sea. It’s a popular summer destination with a Mediterranean vibe and an easy-going atmosphere. A perfect place to relax, visit the Sečovlje Salt Pans, and spend some time on the beach.

Your adventure will begin in our vibrant yet homely capital Ljubljana. After some fantastic sightseeing and tasting local cuisine and culture, you will head north to the Alpine region. The panoramic views are breathtaking as you enter a completely different word. The world-famous Lake Bled and a stunning nearby gorge await. This region is home to the incredibly captivating Triglav National Park. You will visit Lake Bohinj and ascend a beautiful mountain by cable car.
Next, you’ll be driving across some more scenically diverse landscapes as you make your way to the enchanting Karst. High on the list of extraordinary destinations, there is the renowned Postojna Cave or its UNESCO-protected counterpart, the network of Škocjan Caves. Other jewels of the Karst are the medieval Predjama Castle and Lipica Stud Farm.
It’s just a short drive to the Slovenian coast, where you will stay the night in Portorož. Visiting the seaside towns of Piran, Koper and Izola present you with yet another side of Slovenia. You will also have plenty of time to enjoy the beach and do some more sightseeing in this charming Mediterranean area.

Your fly & drive holiday starts in Ljubljana. If you need a transfer from the airport, let us know upon booking!
In any case, you let us know as soon as possible. Your basic insurance included in the price offers 24/7 roadside assistance and covers damages caused to other people involved in a car accident. If you wish to upgrade your insurance, there are extended options available that cover more than one driver, windows and tyres.
To drive in Slovenia, you must have a European driver’s licence or an international driving permit.
The car you will get from the rental company is already equipt with a vignette you can use on Slovenian highways.
Generally, rental companies offer cars with automatic transmission but if that is your preference, please let us know.
We use different hotels, depending on availability, but we always make sure they are conviniently located and that you have the option of parking your car comfortably.

Slovenia Holidays / World Discovery ( travel agent Grega) arranged a one week travel program for us in Slovenia, combining our own wishes of some hiking and nature experiences, some sea-, city- and country-side visits and his own suggestions (Ljubljana food tour, Planina cave spelunking with personal guide, etc.). The process around customising the itinerary and perfecting it went very smooth.
