Itinerary
Meet Ljubljana, a cozy, relaxed capital that will charm you straight away! Spend your day exploring the city’s main sights and attractions on a walking tour through the old town and enjoy a leisurely boat ride on the Ljubljanica River, where you will be able to see why this is considered one of the greenest capitals in Europe.
We will also be visiting Ljubljana Castle, a mighty fort overlooking the city, which offers one of the best views not only of Ljubljana but also of the Alps in the north. You will have some free time to get settled and just to enjoy the town’s lively atmosphere.

The Slovenian Alps are something everyone raves about. We will head out early in the morning to the most famous attraction in Slovenia – Lake Bled and enjoy a morning boat ride to the picturesque island in the middle. Later, we will head up to Bled Castle, take in the best views of the area and have a lunch break in the center of the resort time, where you can also take a stroll or try a famous dessert, kremšnita.
After Bled, the afternoon will be spent by Lake Bohinj, Bled’s less-known neighbor, a stunning part of Triglav National Park.

Another day, another must-see! We are off to Postojna Cave, the queen of caves, where a small electric train will take you underground for a unique experience. The dripstones and the halls of this cave are so spectacular that any description fails to do them justice.
A short drive away from Postojna, we will pass by Predjama Castle as well, a unique structure with mysterious stories and a wonderful photo-stop.
Important
The temperature in the caves is 10°C, so make sure you are dressed properly.

Despite being small, Slovenia’s coast is a real gem. The most famous town, Piran, will charm you with its architecture and you will struggle to take your finger off the camera’s shutter. But walking around Piran is just one of the highlights of this day, as we will also visit the reason Piran was so successful in the Middle Ages – the production of sea salt. All in all, a great day out!

The last day in Ljubljana will be more leisurely with plenty of free time to do some more sightseeing or just relax. You will visit 2 of the most interesting museums in the town, Ljubljana City Museum with Ljubljana’s history and exciting exhibitions (and a cafe with great coffee!) and Plečnik’s House Museum, the once home of Ljubljana’s famous architect, where you will be able to enter the mind of this mastermind behind Ljubljana’s architecture. Things to know
The included pickup and drop-off at the end of the holiday in the price published on our website is in Ljubljana. For any changes, please notify us upon booking. The included transfers are all the transfers between places and/or activities specified in the itinerary.
Both our back office team and our guides know where to go. We can give you recommendations or even pre-book some places for you. You can be adventurous and find places on your own. Either way, let us know if you would like any sort of help.
It is important to dress for the season. Slovenia has all 4 seasons, so please check the weather forecast before the day trip regarding temperatures and rainfall. When you are close to the Alps, the weather can change fairly quickly, so your best bet is to always bring an extra layer. We recommend shoes you will be comfortable in.
It really depends on the level of your restriction. Vegetarian options are fairly easy to find in Slovenia, but vegan dishes, on the other hand, are extremely hard to come by in rural areas of the country and in smaller towns. Please note that the places where we stop for lunch are often traditional and may have difficulties accommodating you outside of their standard menu. We suggest you keep this in mind.
Yes! Our holidays are designed to give you some free time every day to relax and spend it the way you want to. It is your holiday after all! For any advice and suggestions you can always turn to your tour leader or our back office, who will be more than happy to help you out.
