Description
Spending a family holiday in Slovenia’s beautiful Alpine region is always a great idea. So what could be better than choosing the country’s iconic and idyllic Lake Bled as your destination? Adding a list of super fun and adventure-packed activities to your stay, of course!
Bled is undeniably the most famous Slovenian landmark. It’s steeped with legends and history, has the oldest castle in the country, a pretty church in the middle of a stunning glacial lake, and is situated in one of the most picturesque environments on the planet. But what many visitors don’t know about Bled is that it offers a bunch of possibilities for an active holiday the whole family can enjoy. This 4-day holiday will allow you to see all the main attractions and give you the option of choosing numerous extra activities suitable for all ages.
In addition to hitching a ride to the island with a traditional pletna boat and visiting the medieval castle on a cliff for some spectacular views, you’ll be able to choose between various destinations in and around Bled, as well as indulge in fun activities this Alpine gem has in store.
Each day you’ll be able to pick a different adventure tailored to your needs. From cycling around the lake and countryside lanes or horse-riding in the forest, to easy hiking in nearby Vintgar Gorge or paddle boarding on Lake Bled itself. For a dose of adrenaline, there’s ziplining above a scenic river valley and an adventure park overlooking Lake Bled. Whatever your preference, we’ve got you covered.
We’ll be there to transfer you to your chosen location and guide you through all these awesome activities. Families can also opt for a slower pace and explore on their own or relax in the spa. Parents can enjoy some alone time by going wine tasting and sharing a romantic dinner. We’ll provide a guide, that you can consider your holiday nanny that will keep your children entertained for hours with some fantastic lakeside activities.

It is important to dress for the season. Slovenia has all 4 seasons, so please check the weather forecast before the day trip regarding temperatures and rainfall. When you are close to the Alps, the weather can change fairly quickly, so your best bet is to always bring an extra layer. We recommend shoes you will be comfortable in. If you are visiting caves, please remember that the caves are cold in the summer, as the cave temperature is constant throughout the year.
It really depends on the level of your restriction. Vegetarian options are fairly easy to find in Slovenia, but vegan dishes, on the other hand, are extremely hard to come by in rural areas of the country and in smaller towns. Please note, that the places where we stop off for lunch are often traditional and may have difficulties accommodating you outside of their standard menu. We suggest you keep this in mind and let us know upon booking.
As there is so much to do in Slovenia, we wanted to give you the option of choosing exactly how you would like to spend your time here. Which is why we have compiled a list of popular activities in the areas of your visit and categorized them as extras. Therefore, the choice of which and how many you would like to experience is entirely up to you. You can book all of your chosen extras in advance. Your guide will confirm the bookings with you on the tour and make sure you are fully informed.
As much as you’d like! We are well aware that some people love to have a packed holiday, full of activities, while others prefer some more alone and quiet time on their trip. We wanted to give you the opportunity to do things your way. It is your holiday, after all! Please feel free to customize your itinerary and create your own adventure!
Our family holiday guides are professional and experienced guides who are also very good with children. They will look after the whole family, help you out with the itinerary, your activities and will also be a wealth of local information. If you want to join activities such as wine tasting, your guide will be happy to keep your children entertained and busy.
The price published on our website includes 3* accommodation with the whole family staying in one room or suite. If you prefer to have separate rooms, let us know upon booking. The accommodation is placed centrally in areas that have restaurants, shops, cafes and other entertainment, so you are not stranded somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
