Itinerary
Arrive at the beautiful lake town of Bled, where you will get to know your guide and the other members of your group. Get familiar with your ski-touring base and explore the town on this chill first day.
One of the easiest 2000ers in our country, with a magnificient view of Triglav and the Bled basin. Because of its location, it offers pleasant skiing conditions either in powder or on more hard-packed snow. The tour starts in the idyllic snowy forest of Pokljuka but quickly rises above the tree line, where the panorama opens up. From there, we quickly reach the top. Depending on the conditions, the tour can be extended to the nearby peaks of Veliki Draški Vrh and Mrežce, or even ski Viševnik twice.
This tour is more suitable for the powder days when the approach to higher peaks has a high risk of avalanche or the snow there has been affected too much by the wind. We start the tour in the mountain cirque (amphitheatre-like glacial valley) of Krnica which is easily accessible from the bottom turns of the Vršič Pass road. We continue past the hut there and start our climb closer to the mighty walls of Križ and Razor. Just below the Kriška Stena, we have plenty of options available to ski back down to the valley.
In good conditions, Mala Mojstrovka is one of the best ski tours in Slovenia. The tour begins at the top of the Vršič Pass, from where we gain around 600 metres of elevation to the top. A part of the climb often needs to be done on foot (crampons and ice-axe). Mojstrovka is an excellent introduction to the high-altitude Julian Alps, because of its sawed-off west face and 360° panorama. Still, the skiing is never too steep or difficult.
This is a former ski resort under the mountain of Begunjščica in the Karavanke mountain range on the border with Austria. Nowadays, this is the centre of ski mountaineering in Slovenia. It is very popular because of its accessibility and the good snow conditions found in at least one part of the area since its terrain is oriented in all directions. Here you can find everything — from the easy tours, up to the steep couloir downhills in the north face of Begunjščica.
Mt. Jalovec, according to many the most beautiful mountain in Slovenia, reigns above the glacial Tamar Valley. Its peak is very difficult to access in winter, but the Kotovo Saddle below it is reached easily. The shady valley offers a lot great powder skiing. For a bigger challenge, the more experienced skiers can climb up the Jalovčev ozebnik), a steep and narrow couloir excellent for some steep skiing. The coulouir has a special shape that enables it to get up to 5 times more powder snow than the other parts of the Julian Alps.
The Kredarica Hut is about as high as you can get in Slovenia on skis. It’s the highest mountain hut in Slovenia, located right below Triglav, the highest peak in Slovenia. While it doesn’t offer a lot of powder skiing, the conditions here are often good. The tour follows the easiest path to Mt. Triglav, from the glacial valley of Krma, past some alps and up the southern slopes below the hut. The high altitude of the hut rewards you with a long descent back to the valley.

Description
Ski-touring in Slovenia is not only the fastest but also the most adventurous way of discovering this winter mountain landscape.
Slovenia is a country full of hikers, and our mountains reflect that, as they are full of hiking paths. But in wintertime, when the snow covers this diverse alpine landscape, it also covers all of these paths and makes our mountains a playground just waiting to be discovered anew. There will be days when you will feel like the first explorers, with the only skin track seen on the white surface yours.
Each day you will head out to a new destination, carefully selected by our local expert guide, based on several factors like weather, snow conditions, avalanche safety, and your preferences. As your itinerary is not set in stone beforehand, it will be the best experience of ski-touring in Slovenia one could have that week.
Being in a small group led by our professional guide with lots of experience in the Slovene mountains means this week of ski-touring is highly customizable. There might be heavy snowfall one day during the week — Your guide will adjust the destination so that it does not necessitate a “sick day” staying at your accommodation. You might already have a location that you want to ski at in mind — We will choose the best day of the week to do that. This holiday is suitable for skiers of all levels, although a sufficient degree of experience and autonomy as a backcountry skier is still needed.
We still didn’t mention the location of your accommodation but do not worry, it’s not because it isn’t noteworthy. Quite the opposite, as you’ll be staying at the famous Lake Bled. The lovely town is located right on the doorstep of the Julian Alps and is a perfect base for our daily adventures. Most of the ski-touring locations are around a 30-minute car ride away. Bled is also an all-year-round tourist hotspot, full of opportunities for different après ski activities.
Join us on the best ski tours Slovenia has to offer. And as a well-known ski filmmaker Warren Miller once said: “If you don’t do it this year, you will be one year older when you do.”
If you are a fan of skiing but do not want to go ski-touring, you should head over to Slovenia Ski Holidays and find something for yourself!

Things to know
The tours can be chosen according to your skills but a basic knowledge of tour skiing is required. You should be able to skin and ski independently as well as know how ski touring equipment works.
We will always do our best to find a tour that is suitable for the whole group. The fastest of the group can always be in front, beating the fresh snow and most of the terrains allow us to adjust our route according to how we feel.
There is a bunch of cool stuff to do in Slovenia in winter, so we always find great alternatives if the weather doesn’t play along. If for the dates of your holidays our mountains do not have any snow or in general do not allow for ski touring activities, we can postpone the holidays or refund you fully.
Where the meals are included in the itineraries they are in a group setting. Your guide will also be with you during these scheduled meals. During the meals that are not included in the itinerary, you are free to choose where you would like to dine. Your guide will advise you of the best places to dine. You can choose to join with others and decide to dine together somewhere or if you desire some independent time, you are also always welcome to do your own thing.
Your ski touring equipment and clothing for all sorts of weather – we could have warm spring skiing or waist-deep powder. If you don’t have all the necessary equipment let us know and we will find you the missing pieces.
Yes – for your safety and the safety of the group, you are obligated to have your beacon, probe and shovel on all the tours. If you don’t have your own, we can lend it to you. If you have an avalanche airbag backpack, you are also welcome to bring it with you.
