You’ll set out on your campervanning adventure from the international airport, which is just a stone’s throw away from Ljubljana, Europe’s greenest capital. Ljubljana offers amazing sightseeing, excellent gastronomy and outdoor recreation. Heading up to the Alpine region, you’ll visit world famous Lake Bled and explore the natural and cultural wonders of the area. Your campervanning adventure will start at Ljubljana airport, where we will pick you up, brief you on your itinerary and introduce you to your home on four wheels. Then you will head to Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital and spend the day exploring this charming city.
One of the most popular places to visit in Slovenia is definitely Lake Bled. You will have plenty of time to discover all the reasons why when spending the day on the shores of the lake and exploring all the places you want to see there. From great viewpoints and scenic hiking, to traditional sightseeing of historical places, you can spend the day as actively or as leisurely as you like.
Located deep in the Julian Alps at the heart of Triglav National Park and only a short drive from Bled, Lake Bohinj is a nature-lover’s paradise. It offers countless options of spending time in nature, be it hiking, cycling or proper mountain climbing. It will satisfy the needs of adrenaline junkies with nearby canyons and rivers, but those looking for tranquil relaxation will not be disappointed either. Wherever you turn, breathtaking views are guaranteed.
Drive up the Vršič Pass and the windy road will take you to Soča Valley along the beautiful Soča River and spend time in the adrenaline capital of Slovenia called Bovec. You can choose to spend the day hiking in the area, chasing waterfalls or getting your adrenaline rush by joining rafting, canyoning or ziplining activities. Either way, filmmakers of the Narnia movies knew why they chose this place to be one of the filming locations.
Further down the Soča River stream, you will visit the historic town of Kobarid, famous for its WWI battles and an award winning museum, but you can choose to keep your trail in nature and visit the unique Kozjak Waterfall instead or even try climbing some of the epic mountains in the area and see where the famous battles took place. The next town on your itinerary is Tolmin, where you can stop to check out the marvellous Tolmin Gorges before heading to the Karst area, where you can see the spectacular Škocjan Caves, a marvellous UNESCO site.
Besides the picturesque town of Piran, the Slovenian coast is dotted with towns, such as Koper, Izola and Portorož. The so-called Slovenian Riviera is a popular place for summer holidays with its Mediterranean vibe and the easy-going atmosphere. It is great to just relax there or hop on a bicycle to explore the hilly surroundings full of vineyards and olive groves, enjoy some gourmet treats or the incredible history of salt making.
Make the best of your last day and squeeze in a cave visit, be it the most famous, Postojna Cave, or one of the lesser known but more adventurous caving options that the Slovenian Karst has to offer. On your way, you will also pass the popular Predjama Castle, a unique cave-castle wrapped in mysterious legends, a perfect stop to squeeze in before heading back to return the van.
