DAY 2 – Skiing near Ljubljana

The Krvavec ski resort is the largest of its kind in Slovenia. It offers more than 25 km of excellent pistes, covering an area of 110 ha. It can be reached within 20 minutes by car from Ljubljana, followed by a 7-minute gondola ride to the top of the mountain. Krvavec is ideal because it comes with a nice balance of easy blue and green runs as well as some fantastic red and black pistes for the adrenaline seekers among you.

Situated above the 1500 m mark, Krvavec ensures a very long ski season that stretches from December to early April. It is considered a sunny resort and the views above the cloud line are out of this world. On slightly cloudy days, you even get the illusion of skiing on an island in the sky.

Soriška planina lies on the border between the Primorska and Gorenjska regions, located in the southwestern part of the country at an altitude between 1,287 m and 1,550 m. There are five lifts operating within the ski resort, which offer awesome panoramic views.

In addition to Alpine skiing on its 10 km of ski trails, you can also enjoy backcountry skiing and cross-country skiing on well-maintained trails that run through the forests of Jelovica, as well as sledding, snowshoeing, and winter hiking, making Soriška planina a truly incredible wintertime experience.

7 days, 6 wonderful ski resorts, and unlimited opportunities for some incredible snowy fun on the best slopes in Slovenia. A ski safari is all about diversity and Slovenian ski resorts are as diverse as it gets.

Not only in terms of the facilities they offer, but the locations they’re situated in. This ski package offers you an amazing ski safari experience. Stationed in a 4-star hotel in the capital city of Ljubljana, your daily ski destinations will be just an hour or two away.

You’ll start off by visiting Krvavec, a stunning resort on the outskirts of Ljubljana. It’s the closest ski resort to any international airport in Europe and due to its proximity to Ljubljana, it can almost be called an urban ski resort. The surrounding natural environment proves otherwise – pure serenity. Krvavec is also great for kids, as it has a children’s park with obstacles and varied terrain.

Slightly further south, you’ll hit the runs at the resorts of Cerkno and Soriška Planina, located on the border between the mountainous and coastal regions of Slovenia. The diversity of terrain and the views are incredible.

Next, you’ll explore the majestic Alpine region. Kranjska Gora is not only superb for skiers of all levels but is also buzzing with life, as it’s Slovenia’s main sports hub. Heading up to the highest ski resort of Sella Nevea-Kanin that presents you with breath-taking panoramic views of the mountains. Your skiing adventure will end with a bang at Italy’s Tarvisio–Monte Lussari for some night skiing.

Every time you return to Ljubljana, après-ski opportunities are ample to say the least. Whether it’s exploring historic sites, enjoying cultural events, attending concerts, or going wild at all-night parties – Ljubljana has you covered.

All in all, you can look forward to the best skiing experience this side of the Alps that will certainly leave you with the desire to come back for more.

Tours are designed at your own pace and you will enjoy no matter what your age.

Each evening your guides will chat with you about the following day’s activities and give you an idea of the sorts of trails you can look forward to. If there’s anything you feel anxious about, your guides will be happy to discuss it with you.
