Slovenia is a place yet to be discovered. Our small country on the south side of the Alps provides fantastic photographic experiences. Capture reflections in the lakes, play with long exposure near the streams, photograph churches with outstanding backgrounds, or wait for the sunset on the Adriatic coast.

Our photography tour is designed to take you to the most iconic places in the country and give you an opportunity to find hidden spots, known only to local photographers. You will be able to focus on your photography while we take care of location scouting, transfers and accesses, settings and guidelines, if needed.

We will spend the first couple of days in the area around iconic Lake Bled and have sunrise and sunset sessions. Then we move across the Triglav National Park and spend some time in the Trenta Valley to master our Long Exposure techniques. We will visit “Slovenian Tuscany” with its beautiful hills and vineyards. A couple of days will be dedicated to capturing the beauty of the Slovenian coastal town of Piran, and for the grand finale, a walking tour through Slovenia’s charming capital, Ljubljana.

Prepare your camera and join us on this 8-day Slovenia photo tour and discover our country and the excellent photographer inside you.

Things to know

Photo Holidays Slovenia are designed for anyone with an interest in photography. 8-day holiday workshops are designed to combine travel, relaxation and photography. We welcome beginners and professionals alike. You can join us with the newest DSLR and a huge bag of equipment or just a simple point-and-shoot camera. You can also bring someone, who is not a photographer along. There are plenty of different sightseeing and activity opportunities on the way.

Our team consists of pro-photographers in landscape, travel, wildlife and macro photography. Your holiday guide is Nejc Trpin, an award-winning professional landscape and adventure photographer. During his photography career he developed several skills and styles of photography. His photographs were published in various international and local magazines, including National Geographic and Landscape Photography Magazine. He is also a f-Stop Gear and Fujifilm Slovenia ambassador and educator. He often says his aim is to search for the light in adventure.

Most of the iconic spots that we will be visiting are next to or close to the main roads. Some spots are within reasonable walking/easy hiking distance, and other locations are reachable by car.

You will need a camera and a basic lens (optional). It is advised (but not essential) to have a DSLR camera with a wide angle and a tele-photo lens. You can also bring your mirrorless or point-and-shoot cameras. A tripod is warmly recommended as well. Apart from photo gear, it is recommended to have some basic outdoor clothing and sturdy hiking shoes.

We use different comfortable vehicles on our tours, from private cars to vans, depending on the group size. They all have A/C and enough space for our luggage and photography gear.

We will mostly spend our nights (until the early morning for the sunrise photo, of course) in the family-owned guest houses or tourist farms, and occasionally in 3- or 4-star hotels. All accommodations are carefully chosen from our previous holiday experiences and convenient for reaching the photography locations in the area. Prices are based on a shared double/twin bedroom basis. We can assist you in finding a roommate. Single use is available on request.

Our team of pro-photographers in landscape, travel, wildlife and macro photography will help you with understanding the basics of using your camera, help you use and practice the techniques that are often used in travel and landscape photography and advise you on choosing the best lenses for different purposes. We will also look into the basic post-processing in simple image editors and give you some tips and tricks about post-production in Photoshop and Lightroom. At the end, we will have an evaluation session to choose your best photographs.

We will do our best to adjust the tour schedule to the weather forecast. But on the other hand, bad weather is a good opportunity to make some stunning and dramatic photographs, or we can seize that time for a detailed workshop of image postprocessing.
