Get your family settled in Kranjska Gora, the lovely small town at the foot of the Slovenian Alps. Surrounded by beautiful views, a cycling trip to the nearby Zelenci Springs is a great way to start your holiday!
On this day we head to Tamar Valley, a hiking paradise deep in the heart of the Julian Alps. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and serene nature in Triglav National Park. Planica Nordic Center, located at the entrance of the valley, is one of the most important sporting centers in the country and you will be able to get to know more about the incredible ski-flying, a sport invented in Slovenia. If you are daring enough, you can opt to zipline down the second highest ski jumping hill in the world.
Kranjska Gora offers a wide range of activities, so it is up to you how you would like to spend this day here. You can enjoy the pristine Lake Jasna and its magnificent mountain backdrop, especially in the summer, when it becomes a popular swimming spot. There are many trails around the town you can choose to go hiking on. A summer luge and a downhill bike park are located right in the center of town, both exciting activities for the whole family. The choice is yours!
We have another great day in store for your family! Begin your trip into Vrata Valley with a short climb to the remarkable Peričnik Waterfall, a double set of falls cascading over a cliff, the only waterfall in Slovenia you can literally walk behind. Continue deeper into the valley, following the lively course of clear Triglavska Bistrica River all the way to the towering northern face of Mount Triglav, the highest peak in Slovenia. A great day out, full of beautiful views and stunning nature!
Just a short drive across the border with Italy, lies a set of two green-blue glacial lakes with a magnificent backdrop of the Slovenian Julian Alps. Belopeška Lakes or Laghi di Fusine is a popular destination for families from Kranjska Gora and if you don’t mind a 50 km (33 mi) round trip on bicycles, there is a great cycling trail available. Otherwise, the lakes have really nice walking trails around them, so great times are guaranteed!
Please carry your passport as we will cross the Italian border.
Spend your day in the embrace of Martuljek Mountains and Mount Špik, as you and your family hike to the Martuljek Falls. A wonderful hiking destination, the first of the two waterfalls is easily accessible by everyone. Treat yourselves to a traditional meal or snack at a local mountain hut, located on a beautiful meadow, surrounded by pastures and forest. For those with more hiking experience, we recommend continuing to the second waterfall, that is nested in the sheer cliff of the mountains and thus the ascent becomes more technically demanding.
Why not spend a few more days in Slovenia? Extend your holidays with a pre- or post-holiday extension. Accommodation, sightseeing and activities can be arranged. Add as many extra days to your holiday as you wish.
