Description
In terms of natural diversity, Slovenia is the undisputed European champion and it gives us the utmost pleasure to share its sights, sounds and tastes with you and your family. 8 adventure-packed days will be spent enjoying fun activities at two spectacular Alpine lakes, exploring the countryside and towns of the Slovenian coast and its vibrant capital. But the best part of this holiday is that you can create your own itinerary day-by-day, adventure by awesome adventure.
Your holiday will begin in the stunning mountainous region of Slovenia, more precisely at Lake Bled, the country’s most famous landmark. In addition to seeing all the main attractions, you’ll be able to choose between various destinations and activities in and around Bled. From cycling or horse-riding, to hiking through a magnificent gorge or paddle boarding on Lake Bled itself. And for a dose of adrenaline, there’s ziplining above a beautiful river valley and an adventure park overlooking Lake Bled.
From Bled we’ll take you to another fantastic glacial lake called Lake Bohinj, where more super fun activities await. Taking a cable car up to Mount Vogel will present you with jaw-dropping views of the Alps and a chance to walk down an educational trail high in the mountains. You can go kayaking down a crystal-clear alpine river, hiking in a lovely gorge or cycling through an amazing nearby valley. If you’ve never been canyoning, this is your perfect opportunity. It involves climbing, jumping, ziplining, and abseiling along a stream inside an ancient gorge. Whatever your preference, we’ve got you covered.
From high in the Alps to the Adriatic coast and the sunlit Karst. For the next leg of your adventure, we’ll take you to the vibrant seaside town of Portorož. The drive there is quick, but it feels like being teleported to a completely different country. You’ll be able to stroll through the streets of Piran, Slovenia’s prettiest coastal town, go on a boat ride, check out a fish farm, or relax in a mud spa. On a trip to the Slovenian Karst, you’ll explore the most incredible cave in the world and visit a medieval castle built within a rocky cliff. And when all your other senses will have been fully satisfied, a gourmet tour will give your taste buds an adventure of their own.
You’ll wrap up your family holiday with a trip to Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana. The choice of activities doesn’t end there. You’ll be able to experience what life is like on a Slovenian farm, learn to cook and taste the best Slovenian wines while your children enjoy themselves at the Museum of Illusions. If your energy levels permit, the last day can be spent on a bike tour of Ljubljana, a superb way of getting to know our green capital.

It is important to dress for the season. Slovenia has all 4 seasons, so please check the weather forecast before the day trip regarding temperatures and rainfall. When you are close to the Alps, the weather can change fairly quickly, so your best bet is to always bring an extra layer. We recommend shoes you will be comfortable in. If you are visiting caves, please remember that the caves are cold in the summer, as the cave temperature is constant throughout the year.
It really depends on the level of your restriction. Vegetarian options are fairly easy to find in Slovenia, but vegan dishes, on the other hand, are extremely hard to come by in rural areas of the country and in smaller towns. Please note, that the places where we stop off for lunch are often traditional and may have difficulties accommodating you outside of their standard menu. We suggest you keep this in mind and let us know upon booking.
As there is so much to do in Slovenia, we wanted to give you the option of choosing exactly how you would like to spend your time here. Which is why we have compiled a list of popular activities in the areas of your visit and categorized them as extras. Therefore, the choice of which and how many you would like to experience is entirely up to you. You can book all of your chosen extras in advance. Your guide will confirm the bookings with you on the tour and make sure you are fully informed.
As much as you’d like! We are well aware that some people love to have a packed holiday, full of activities, while others prefer some more alone and quiet time on their trip. We wanted to give you the opportunity to do things your way. It is your holiday, after all! Please feel free to customize your itinerary and create your own adventure!
Our family holiday guides are professional and experienced guides who are also very good with children. They will look after the whole family, help you out with the itinerary, your activities and will also be a wealth of local information. If you want to join activities such as wine tasting, your guide will be happy to keep your children entertained and busy.
The price published on our website includes 3* accommodation with the whole family staying in one room or suite. If you prefer to have separate rooms, let us know upon booking. The accommodation is placed centrally in areas that have restaurants, shops, cafes and other entertainment, so you are not stranded somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
