Activities for the whole family
The magic of this tour is that you really create your own itinerary. On this day, you will be able to choose between three different experiences. You can opt to leave the coast for the karst region and visit Postojna Cave, the most popular attraction in Slovenia. With its underground train ride, remarkable cave structures and stories of dragons, it makes for a perfect spot that the whole family will enjoy.
We will also stop in Predjama Castle, an architectural marvel built into a rock cliff, located very close to Postojna. If you are interested in local traditions and food, you can join a vintage gourmet tour that includes a drive through the coastal countryside in vintage vans, a visit to olive groves, and an olive oil press with tasting and traditional lunch. Your third option is to embark on a boat tour and get to experience the Slovenian coast from a completely different perspective.
Important:
The temperature in the cave is 10C, so make sure you are dressed properly.

Description
Traveling to the Slovenian coast with the family has never been this exciting. There are so many incredible things to see and do in this beautiful region that it’s almost impossible to cram them all into one amazing visit. Almost.
The fantastic advantage of this holiday is that it allows you to customize your itinerary and get the most out of your experience. And what an experience it is!
Based in the modern seaside resort of Portorož, you will get the chance to choose among a list of various destinations and fun activities the Slovenian coast has to offer. Strolling around the streets of the incredibly picturesque town of Piran will give you a taste of culture amidst its unique Venetian architecture.
Another day can be spent cycling down a super scenic seaside trail or fusing sport with education by kayaking/paddle boarding to a local fish farm steeped in tradition. While in the region, a trip to the Slovenian Karst will take you to the magical Postojna Cave and a legendary medieval castle perched within a giant cliff. These natural and manmade wonders are guaranteed to impress children and adults alike.
Back at the coast, an option of joining a vintage gourmet tour for some authentic culinary delights awaits. And nothing wraps up a family holiday at the coast like a wonderful boat ride and a dip in the sea.

It is important to dress for the season. Slovenia has all 4 seasons, so please check the weather forecast before the day trip regarding temperatures and rainfall. When you are close to the Alps, the weather can change fairly quickly, so your best bet is to always bring an extra layer. We recommend shoes you will be comfortable in. If you are visiting caves, please remember that the caves are cold in the summer, as the cave temperature is constant throughout the year.
It really depends on the level of your restriction. Vegetarian options are fairly easy to find in Slovenia, but vegan dishes, on the other hand, are extremely hard to come by in rural areas of the country and in smaller towns. Please note, that the places where we stop off for lunch are often traditional and may have difficulties accommodating you outside of their standard menu. We suggest you keep this in mind and let us know upon booking.
As there is so much to do in Slovenia, we wanted to give you the option of choosing exactly how you would like to spend your time here. Which is why we have compiled a list of popular activities in the areas of your visit and categorized them as extras. Therefore, the choice of which and how many you would like to experience is entirely up to you. You can book all of your chosen extras in advance. Your guide will confirm the bookings with you on the tour and make sure you are fully informed.
As much as you’d like! We are well aware that some people love to have a packed holiday, full of activities, while others prefer some more alone and quiet time on their trip. We wanted to give you the opportunity to do things your way. It is your holiday, after all! Please feel free to customize your itinerary and create your own adventure!
Our family holiday guides are professional and experienced guides who are also very good with children. They will look after the whole family, help you out with the itinerary, your activities and will also be a wealth of local information. If you want to join activities such as wine tasting, your guide will be happy to keep your children entertained and busy.
The price published on our website includes 3* accommodation with the whole family staying in one room or suite. If you prefer to have separate rooms, let us know upon booking. The accommodation is placed centrally in areas that have restaurants, shops, cafes and other entertainment, so you are not stranded somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
