Hotel in Ljubljana center
Cycling in a scenic natural environment
A diverse tour with a healthy flat and uphill combo
Well-maintained asphalt roads with light traffic
First on the menu is an introductory tour dubbed the ‘Local Specialty’. We start off in Ljubljana, quickly moving out of the city and onto the most beautiful roads for cycling in the surrounding area. Entering Ljubljana’s countryside feels like venturing into a completely different world in a matter of minutes.
This tour is easy, intended for warming up and getting to know each other. We will ride along the southern part of the Polhov Gradec Dolomites, part of the pre-Alpine hilly region of north-western Slovenia, the route of the famous Franja Marathon. The night is spent in Ljubljana and the evening is free for exploring the city center.

Škofja Loka
Soriška Planina
A transit tour awaits. This one is slightly more challenging. From Ljubljana, we cycle through Škofja Loka, a picturesque historic old town, and continue through the scenic Selška Valley before crossing the Soriška Planina pass towards Bohinj. The city-to-Alps transformation is unbelievable. Arriving in Bohinj, we rest our limbs and relax in preparation for the next day.
Hotel in Bohinj
Bohinj Valley
Radovna Valley
Mojstrana
The next day we start from Bohinj uphill to the Pokljuka Plateau. Crossing this idyllic place with its peaceful meadow and dense woodland, we descend into the Radovna Valley, from where we continue to Mojstrana and the sports hub of Kranjska Gora. It’s our first overnight stay in this Alpine paradise.
Hotel in Kranjska Gora
Beutiful alpine scenery
Alpe Adria cycling path
From Kranjska Gora, we cross the mountainous border to one of the nicest road circles in the area. We will cycle along the abandoned railway line winding its way above the Kanal Valley, through the village of Dogna, and back through the famous Sella Nevea pass. A long but not overly tiring circle amidst beautiful settings is completed.
Hotel in Kranjska Gora
Cycling by the vineyards
World renowned wine region
After another night in Kranjska Gora, it is time to ride over the Vršič Pass on the southern side of the Julian Alps. Along the Soča River, we will rush down a pleasant road with moderate descents. With every mile, you will feel the climate turn increasingly Mediterranean. Eventually, we arrive in the winegrowing region of Goriška Brda, appropriately called Slovenian Tuscany. A well-deserved rest will certainly be in order.
Hotel in Goriška Brda
This last leg of our tour will be somewhat easier as we hit the roads among the vineyards. The afternoon is reserved for wine tasting and pure relaxation.

After breakfast, it’s back to reality. We will drive you to Ljubljana or the airport, depending on your preference/schedule.

If you’re a cycling enthusiast who wants to hit the road in a group of like-minded people and tackle diverse landscapes with full professional support, this 8-day active holiday is meant for you. Slovenia is home to one of Europe’s most diverse geography, which makes it a perfect road cycling destination. You will get to experience this diversity day-to-day, as the terrain and even climate change along the way.
To regain your lost calories, you will munch down on some delicious authentic local cuisine. Breakfasts are hearty and will give you the boost you need. The roads are well-maintained and mostly come with light traffic. But what does the actual tour look like?
A true recreational Tour de Slovenia! The tour is led by a local guide who is a professional cyclist with years of experience and can double as a trainer. The route is planned out very meticulously, so you get the most out of your ride.
A support van is present throughout the journey, its driver a highly trained mechanic who can tend to any technical issues that may arise. Things to know
The included pickup and drop-off at the end of the holiday in the price published on our website is in Ljubljana or Ljubljana airport. For any changes, please notify us upon booking. The included transfers are all the transfers between places and/or activities specified in the itinerary.
Both our back office team and our guides know where to go. We can give you recommendations or even pre-book some places for you. You can be adventurous and find places on your own. Either way, let us know if you would like any sort of help.
Cycling planned on our cycling holidays is moderate to challenging – some of the stages are quite long, some ascents can be challenging. The pace is entirely up to you. If you want to cycle more there is always room for extending a day. If you feel a stage is too demanding, don’t worry – you can always shorten it and shuttle a part of it with our support van.
It is important to dress for the season. Slovenia has all 4 seasons, so please check the weather forecast before the holiday regarding temperatures and rainfall. When you are close to the Alps, you can see all 4 seasons change in the same day, so your best bet is to always bring an extra layer and rain gear. Your guide will let you know each day what kind of weather you can expect for the next day and don’t worry – extra layers can always travel behind us in a support van.
It really depends on the level of your restriction. Vegetarian options are fairly easy to find in Slovenia, but vegan dishes, on the other hand, are extremely hard to come by in rural areas of the country and in smaller towns. Please note that the places where we stop for lunch are often traditional and may have difficulties accommodating you outside of their standard menu. We suggest you keep this in mind.
If you want to, sure! We are well aware that some people love to stay in groups while others prefer some more alone time on their trip. We wanted to give you the opportunity to do things your way. It is your holiday, after all! As long as you respect the group timings and locations designated by your guide, please feel free to customize your itinerary and create your own adventure!
