Lacs de Fusine or Belopeški jezeri
Description
Near Italy’s border with Slovenia, just outside Tarvisio, two exceptionally beautiful glacial lakes are located: Lago Inferiore (Inferior lake) and Lago Superiore (Superior lake). The valley of the Fusine Lakes is one of the most scenic places in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region of Italy. The lakes are fed by artesian springs on the north face of Mt Mangart and annually attract scores of tourists. The lakes are connected to one another by undemanding hiking trails hidden in a thick spruce forest and at the foothills of the famous Mangart mountain range. This peaceful, picturesque environment is a perfect destination for nature lovers. The lakes’ water colours vary from sapphire to turquoise, changing from clear and somewhat milky with seasons and sunlight.
