Bled’s main attraction is of course its idyllic alpine lake with an island in the middle, which you can visit by the traditional pletna boat and ring the wishing bell in the ancient church that stands there. Overlooking the lake on an enormous cliff is the 1000-year-old Bled Castle, the oldest castle in Slovenia. The views of Lake Bled from the castle’s terrace and picturesque countryside that surrounds it are spellbinding. Besides hiking, SUP paddling, cycling and other outdoor activities, Bled offers excellent thermal spas and fantastic gastronomical treats, wine and the famous kremšnita cake dessert included.
